Since 1995, Ecoreg’s senior team has managed and implemented many post-construction biological monitoring programs throughout Northeastern Ontario for the Water Power Industry. They have fisheries resource inventories and baseline studies throughout the Mattagami River and Groundhog River basin for Canadian Hydro and Ontario Power Generation and for Brookfield Power. This work involved fisheries resource inventories, spawning shoal mitigation and monitoring, environmental impact studies, and fisheries, aquatic habitat assessments, and erosion control monitoring. Some of the project tasks included the collection of fisheries field data to assess the success of mitigation measures and potential post-construction impacts to the aquatic environment.
